Laws of Cure. How to know cure vs. suppression

Law of Cure

Homeopathy, Tibetan Medicine, and Chinese Medicine have always been sensitive to the issue of cure vs. suppression. This understanding has helped them to be truly curative in their outcomes.

George Vithoulkas, one of the most famous homeopaths of the current era, has the best definition of health I have seen. It has been a mainstay of practice during my entire career. Here is my paraphrase:

“On the physical level, health is defined as Freedom to focus attention on what is desired without having to put undue attention on physical sensations.

On the emotional level, health is defined as Freedom to experience the full range of human emotions, ‘good’ and ‘bad,’ without being trapped in any one of them.

On the mental level, health is defined as Freedom of clarity of mind and memory.

On the spiritual level, health is defined as Selfless Creativity, where ‘selfless’ refers to self as well as others, and ‘creativity’ refers to imaginative creation of new ideas as well as synthesis of old ideas in new ways.”

What is important about this definition is that it is a measure of progress for ANY therapy. If symptoms are relieved physicals but there is decline on emotional, mental, or spiritual levels, the result is suppressive and against the direction of cure. On the other hand, if someone improves mentally and emotionally but sees no progress on the physical level, it is appropriate to give the treatment more time to filter out to the physical level.

Such considerations are important in chronic disease, but not so much in acute conditions. Acute conditions typically take care of themselves eventually, so it is unusual for treatment to produce suppression.

[For acute conditions, don’t forget to use MDinyourHand > Ailments for rapid relief! “Acute” means temporary or self-limiting, but using our modules can speed up relief. For example, if you have a fever you can go to to Ailment > fever. Or, suppose you are traveling and get diarrhea — go to traveler’s diarrhea. You answer a few questions and the expert system chooses the individualized MP3 eRemedy based on what is unique about your pattern of symptoms. Then you play the eRemedy DIRECTLY on your cellphone or computer. Relief typically occurs in minutes or a few hours.

Because eRemedy choices are individualized to what your body is already trying to do, it is curative rather than suppressive! Be reassured!]
